The Finnish Veikkausliiga league table difference at the top has now narrowed after Demba Savage's Honka saw off HJK Helsinki to a 1-0 win at the Finnair Stadium.

In what looks like the match of the season on Saturday, leading Dawda Bah and HJK Helsinki still at 37 points are now threatened by Honka in their quest to defend their title this season.

Honka who are as close as at 34 points stand the chance to overtake HJK after reducing the gap between them to three. 

Another defeat for HJK could be disastrous for them, as Honka is waiting on the slightest chance to do so.

In the other parts of Europe, Njogu Demba and Odense BK beat Sonderjyske 3-1 on Saturday in the Danish SAS-Ligaen.

Amadou Jawo's Elfsborg beat Kalmar 4-1 to move to 3rd with 33 points in the Swedish Allsvenskans on Saturday.

Abdourahman Dampha’s Neuchatel Xamax beat Young Boys 1-0 to end their winless run in 4 fixtures in the Swiss Axpo Super League on Saturday.

Pa Saikou Kujabi and FSV Frankfurt beat Paderborn 2-0 in the German DFN Pokal championship opener in the Second Bundesliga on Friday.

In Norway, action will resume this weekend after a no action in the league matches, but instead a tough contest in the Norwegian NM Cup contrary to Friday’s edition.

Among the Gambian stars in Norway, only Muhammed Keita's side qualified to the NM cup quarter finals.

Stromsgodset and Banjul-born Muhammed Keita beat Ranheim 2-1 to book a place in the semis of the NM Cup on Saturday.

With a successful conquest, the side is set to host Tijan Jaiteh's SK Brann on Saturday in the Eliteserien on Saturday, 21 August.

The two Gambian stars will face each other in a clash between a top and struggling opponent. Stomsgodset is 5th with 32 points with Jaiteh and Brann have 22 points and 12th on the Norwegian Tippeligaen.

Dawda Leigh and Kristian Brix Valerenga will play fellow Gambian compatriots side Ebrima Sohna and Sandefjord on Monday.The duel of Gambian stars in Norway will be a weekend cracker, as both teams will be looking for the maximum points to push forward their 2010/11 campaign. Valerenga is currently second with 37 points and 9 behind leaders  Rosenborg, while weekend opponents Sandefjord who has so far demonstrated a poor run in the season are languishing at the bottom of the table with one 8 points.
