Gambia national team holds first training session as Scorpions prepare for Gabon friendly

The Gambia’s foreign-based stars have arrived in the country in large numbers to start up preparations ahead of next week’s international friendly game to be played in Gabon.

The team went into camp at the Seaview Hotel yesterday afternoon before proceeding to the Independence Stadium where they held their first training session amid a low turnout.

Coach Paul Put and his charges are due to leave Banjul on Sunday, June 5 for Gabon via Virgin Nigeria airline with almost all the big named players at his disposal except goalkeeper Pa Dembo Touray, Sainey Nyassi and Momodou Futty Danso whose clubs refused to allow them to travel home to take part in next week’s friendly slated for June 7 in Gabon.

The home-based players are blended with the foreign-based stars in the training, and the full squad that is currently at Paul Put’s disposal comprises Musa Camara, Alagie Nyabally, Baboucarr Sanyang, Abdou Jammeh, Omar Jawo, Lamin Samateh, (Bassmen), Lamin Gibba, Pa Modou Jagne, Dodou Suso, Abdoulie Jallow, Mustapha Jarju, Demba Savage, Dawda Bah, Saikou Gassama, Muhammed Mbye, Alagie Sosseh, Ousman Jallow and Njogu Demba, who are currently training for the friendly match.
