The rejuvenated Gambia Handball Association, in collaboration with the Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) are set to stage a two-week basic coaching course, targeting players, servicemen, as well as coaches across the country, Pointsport has learnt.
The level 1 course, according to Public Relations Officer of the association, Gibou Sohna is the first of its kind to be staged by the association, which will take centre stage at the Independence Stadium's Friendship Hotel from 5- 16th April 2010, meant to create awareness in handball.
The course is also expected to help build the capacity of potential Gambians, who will take the lead in handball to help develop the game in the country.
It will also help the participants to specialise in the game so that The Gambia will be able to fully participate locally and internationally.
Gibou Sonha, who remains committed to the handball association, further added that the course would help participants realise their potential in a bid to catch up with other leading countries in handball.
"We are lacking behind when it comes to handball in the country, and one way to promote the game is to encourage such a training course for the athletes," he told Pointsport.
