The Gambia National Veteran Football Society team will today Monday 26th April 2010 meet with Sierra Leone Veteran Team A in the final of the second edition of the Union of Zone II Football Veteran's Tournament, at the National Stadium of Sierra Leone by 5.00 pm.
Speaking to Habib Mboob, the Head Coach of the Gambia National Veteran Football Society team, he said there is no doubt that the Gambia Veteran team will win the trophy.
He also said that the test games against the Second Division teams before their departure for the tournament has really helped the players.
He finally urged all Gambians to continue praying for them to bring the trophy back home.
Abdoulie Jallow, a Gambian player said they will do everything possible to retain the title, noting that they have been training very hard for the final.
He also said that there is a team spirit between the players and there is no doubt that they can make it.
Sirajine Lorring Camara, a Sierra Leone player said that they would do everything possible to win the trophy and give it to their President, Ernest Bai Koroma.
He also said that their slogan "is the cup will stay in Sierra Leone," adding that their veteran players will do everything possible to make their nation proud and hand over the trophy to their President.
He also revealed that the team is not training collectively, but will make everything possible to win the second edition of the Union of Zone II Football Tournament.
Joseph Cotodi, a coach player for Sierra Leone has expressed high regards to the Gambian Veteran team, but stated that they will not allow the Gambian Veteran team to go with the trophy.
The Gambian Ambassador in Sierra Leone, Dembo Badjie said that he has mobilised Gambians in Sierra Leone to come and support the team during the final, adding that the team will do everything possible to bring back the trophy to The Gambia.
