The Gambia National U-20 team are eyeing a positive result against Morocco in the 2017 African U-20 Youth championship second round qualifier to boost their hopes of qualifying for the continent’s bi-annual junior biggest football fiesta in Zambia.

The Darling Scorpions will host the Young Atlas Lions in the first leg tie on 21 May 2016, at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

The Gambia booked their ticket to the second round of the qualifiers after their convincing 4-0 aggregate win over Sierra Leone last month.

Coach Omar Sise and his charges are currently preparing physically and morally at the Independence Stadium twice a day for their crunch qualifiers with North African football powerhouse in the first leg clash in Banjul at the next weekend.

The Darling Scorpions will hunt for revenge against the Young Atlas Lions in the first leg in Banjul to fancy their chances of qualifying for the junior biggest football fray to be hosted in Zambia next year.

The Darling Scorpions lost to Morocco 4-0 in the 2013 African U-20 Youth championship qualifiers before they withdrew from the qualifiers.

The Gambia were disqualified from the 2015 African U-20 Youth championship qualifiers after being found guilty of using five overage players against Liberia in the first leg of the qualifiers on 6 April 2014, in Monrovia, in which the Darling Scorpions beat Liberia 1-0 courtesy of former Commit FC and Brikama United talisman Bakary Daffeh aka Kanu.
