According to our constitution, on Saturday May 19th the Gambia Cricket Association held its Annual General Meeting and Congress, at the Friendship Hostel in Bakau. The meeting started with an opening prayer said by all in their own faith followed by the role call in which 54 attendance were in attendance. In the President’s report he stated that his administration has registered a lot of success especially in the 2011 operational calendar, Cricket Administration and operation, Developments, Events and Tournaments both Local and Internationally and is still working towards the improvement and development of the game in each division. He further says that the association is still working with the Government for a Cricket Oval and concluded by thanking the National Sport Council, the Ministry for working hand in gloves with the association the donors and most of all the President who recently donated a vehicle to the association which has boosted and enhanced our movement as well as accessibility. The Treasurer in his report stated that our expenses were slightly higher, due to various activities which were embarked on during the year, but there was a marginal increase in the income. Both report were later discussed and adopted by the General Council
As is the Election year for the new Board of Control, the meeting was later moved by motion and all Offices of then former board was dissolved, and handed over to the National Sports Council to oversee the Election of the New Office Bearers. The National Executive Secretary and the Development Officer; Messer’s Max Jallow and. Abdul –Aziz Titao Mendy, conducted the elections. Mr. Johnny Gomez was Re-Elected unopposed as the President, Vice President, was also elected unopposed Mr. Mbye Dumbuya. Mr. Wilfred Remileku Riley as General Secretary, Mr. Sheriff Jallow as Assistance Secretary, Mr. Malamin Fofana as Treasurer for the second time. Fabakary Dampha and George Greywoode were purposed for the post of the P.R.O. Fabakary Dampha and George Greywoode went for election, with George Greywoode emerging victorious with 40 votes and Fabakary Dampha got 18 votes. Five Other Members were also Nominated according to the Constitution as part of the board; namely Mr. Peter Campbell, Mr. Prince Johnson, Mr. Jamindu Falano, Mrs. Kumba Njie and Mrs. Isatou Drammeh.
After a successful AGM, Mr. Max Jallow the Executive Secretary of the National Sport Council urged members of the newly elected executive to work closely in other to archive their aims and objectives. Mr. Johnny Gomez the elected President in his acceptance speech thanks all and sundry for their continuous support, and disclosed that Cricket is a game he loves and has passion for, and all concerns will be addressed by his administration.
