The
Gambia Cricket Association on 26 August 2016 held its congress at the July 22nd
Square Hall in Banjul in which 74 registered members were present.
Johnny
Gomez, who was re-elected president of the association, has an executive that
include: Mbye Dumbuya as vice president, Wilfred R. Riley secretary general,
Ebrima Darboe assistant secretary and Malamin Fofana treasurer.
Pascal
Mendy in deputising the Executive Director of the National Sports Council,
congratulated the elected members.
The
president of the association is mandated to appoint five members to be part of
the board, according to the association’s constitution and as such he appointed
the following in various capacities: Madam Kumba-Njie was appointed to
represent the female players and National Sports Council; Peter Campbell the
male players; Jamiyu Falano the coaches and match officials; Yerro Sowe the
schools and teachers; and Sainey Badjie the regions.
Hagie
Drammeh and Baboucarr Camara were also appointed as public relations officers
of the association.
Mr
Loum from Ebbeh Gi was co-opted to represent the association as desk officer
for Serekunda East, Madam Isatou Drammeh desk officer for Serekunda West, Mr
Andreh Jarju desk officer for Banjul and Ismaila Tamba desk officer for Bakau.
The
president, in his brief remarks, welcomed the new board and urged them to rise
up to their various tasks as a new wind of development is blowing, and
everybody’s effort is needed.
