Fortune FC have revived their lead in the 2016-2017 Gambia Football Federation second division league after their resounding 2-0 win over Lions of Banjul in the week-eight fixtures played at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium at the weekend.
Fortune FC and Lions of Banjul are both with 15 points in seven league matches before their crunch clash at the capital’s biggest football arena.
Fortune FC secured the vital three points after netting two brilliant goals to move three points clear ahead of second-place Lions of Banjul.
Bakau United beat BK Milan 1-0 in the all-Bakau derby fixtures played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau to recover in the second tier after losing to league leaders Fortune FC 5-1 in their previous fixtures.
Elsewhere, Wallidan thumped Red Hawks 2-0 in Banjul to occupy third spot in the second division league after losing to Serrekunda East Bi in their previous outing.
Fortune FC are leading the race with 18 points in eight league outings and Lions of Banjul are second spot with 15 points in eight league matches three points behind league leaders Fortune FC.
Wallidan and Red Hawks are third and fourth places with 13 points each in eight league matches five points behind league leaders Fortune FC and two points behind second-place Lions of Banjul.
Brufut United are fifth place with 12 points in eight league games six points behind table topper Fortune FC, three points behind second-spot Lions of Banjul and one point behind third and fourth spots Wallidan and Red Hawks.
Young Africans are sixth places with 11 points in eight league matches after losing to Banjul United 1-0 in the all-Banjul derby clash at the weekend.
