According to our sources, the incident occurred on Tuesday evening at Sare Modou Ba Junction in the Central River Region, while the truck was over-speeding coming from Sare Bojo on a “Lumo Day” heading to Bansang.
The source further added that reaching the junction, the driver was reported to be overtaking two vehicles at the same time and lost control of the vehicle.
As a result, the vehicle somersaulted, which left three people dead on the spot, and the fourth person died after been hospitalised in Bansang.
The other 21 people who sustained injuries were rushed to Bansang hospital.
According to the information gathered, the victims included one Nuru Krubally, owner of the vehicle - who is of Niger nationality residing in Bansang, Brikisa Jallow, Bucu Kanyi and Yerro Kandeh.
Our sources further stated that the registration number of the vehicle is BJL 93081 J and the total number of the passengers on board was twenty-five.
When contacted for verification, the police public relations officer, ASP Lamin Njie, confirmed the story, and also sent a warning to all drivers “to be conscious of the speed limit” as they drive.
