Former permanent secretary at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mambanyick Njie, has been arrested and charged, The Point has reliably learnt.
Mambanyick, who was sacked from his position as permanent secretary in June this year, was arrested Tuesday afternoon, charged with giving false information and released on police bail.
According to our sources, Njie’s arrest and subsequent charge is in connection with a petition he wrote to a public officer some months back about developments at the Gambia Football Association.
When contacted, ASP David Kujabi, the police public relations officer, confirmed Mambanyick Njie’s arrest, and noted that Njie will soon be arraigned in court.
