Mr Cole joined the then Department of Information and Broadcasting Services as Production Assistant in 1969 and was promoted to the position of Producer in 1974.
In
1978 he was appointed Head of English Programmes; promoted to the position of
Senior Broadcasting Officer in 1982 and Controller of General Programmes in
1983.
After
two years, he was promoted to the position of Acting Assistant Director of
Broadcasting and was confirmed to that position in 1989.
Mr
Cole was re-designated and appointed Assistant Director of Information in
January 1994, moving from the then Radio
Gambia at Mile 7 to the Information Services at Hagan Street in Banjul.
He
was appointed Director of Information Services in 1997, a position he held up
to his retirement in 2003.
He attended several trainings including staff training with the British Broadcasting Corporation, BBC in London in 1978.
Mr
Cole was soft spoken, respectful, hardworking and demonstrated strong
dedication to his work.
His
cooperative attitude and good cheer were appreciated and did inspire everyone
he worked with.
