Fire destroys food store in Barrow Kunda

This year’s farming season began with shocking news for the family of Arafang Kebbeh in Barrow Kunda, Wuli West, URR, as fire engulfed their entire foodstuff and other valuables.

Reports reaching this paper from Wuli have confirmed that a fire outbreak has completely burnt down the entire foodstuff of the Kebbeh Kunda family.

This devastating incident which happened on Friday 31st May 2013, report indicated, had emanated from a nearby farm land.

According to eyewitnesses, the family lost their entire foodstuff, including coos, maize and rice.

A newly married couple also lost their entire belongings in the inferno, said another eye witness.

The lost incurred by the family in monetary terms, report added cannot be easily quantified, said a son of the victim.

In a related development, a another fire incident was reported in Jawneh Kunda, destroying a store belonging to one Madi Jaineh, but thanks to the early intervention of the villagers the properties were not destroyed.

Meanwhile, they are appealing to the National Disaster Management Agency and other humanitarian organisations to come to the aid of the victims.
