than 40 final year students from the University of The Gambia on Wednesday
visited the Medical Research Council (MRC) to learn about the council’s
research achievements and current research priorities.
The
students, received by the MRC Gambia director Professor Umberto D’Alessandro,
were taken through the different presentations the works of MRC in The Gambia
and some of its current engagements.
Prof
D’Alessandro told the students that MRC Gambia has a reputation for scientific
integrity, quality and excellence in delivering innovative, quality research to
reduce the burden of illnesses globally.
Binta
Sanyang, a UTG student, said as doctors tomorrow, it is important for them to
know some of the trending research focus of institutions like the MRC.
She
said though the visit was very educative, they have learned enough to help them
in some of their course work.
Ms
Sanyang thanked the management and staff of MRC for the warm welcome accorded
to them.
