Gambian delegation of 50, led by Amir Baba F. Trawally, recently returned home after attending the 47thAnnual Convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at in the United Kingdom.

Speaking to pressmen at his Tallinding office on Saturday evening about the convention, the Amir of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at in The Gambia, Baba F. Trawally, said the convention was opened by the Supreme and Spiritual Head of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad.

He said Supreme and Spiritual Head Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad reminded the audience and the entire world that the purpose of the convention was for the development of Taqwa (righteousness) in the hearts, adding that all faculties should work for the sake of Allah the Almighty so that they would represent His parts.

According to Baba F. Trawally, Masroor Ahmad the supreme and spiritual head told the delegates that His Holiness the Khalifa (ATBA) admonished that faith should not be lip service and the covenant of Bai’at (initiation into the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at) should not attract any form of boasting; rather it should be for Allah the Almighty with total repentance.

He said the supreme and spiritual head also addressed the Lajna session (Women’s session). His Holiness (ATBA) said that all 700 commandments of the Holy Qur’an should be obeyed and there should be dispensation of justice to all.

While noting that marital relationships should be based on truthfulness and straightforwardness, His Holiness states that women should fulfill their family responsibilities and husbands should also discharge their duties with love, affection and justice.

There should be mutual respect between the two and cruelty should be shunned by both parties, adding that Supreme and Spiritual Head Ahmad admonished women to distance themselves from backbiting or talking ill of others.

He said righteousness should influence all actions because no one can deceive Allah the Almighty, emphasizing that both men and women should purify their hearts, shun evil and fulfill their responsibilities so that both can equally derive benefits from Allah the Almighty’s reward.

According to Baba F. Trawally, Hudhur gave the report of the activities and achievements of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at worldwide while praying that next year’s activities be more successful than the previous years.

Delivering the closing address in the Final Session of the convention, Baba F. Trawally said Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih V (may Allah Almighty strengthen, help and protect him) has said that Islam is the personification of peace, security, total obedience and submission to Allah the Almighty and service to humanity.

Hadhrat Khalifatul Mash V said a Muslim is the one who observes all his obligations solely for Allah the Almighty thus “the name Muslim has earlier been given to this Ummah in the Scriptures and Ahmadis are true Muslims in true sense of the term”.

“The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at is true picture of Islam and we believe in Allah the Almighty and all the tenets of Islam,” he said, adding that they are Muslims according to Allah’s definition and the definition of His Prophet Hadhrat Muhammad Mustafa (saw).

He said they believe in the second advent of the Holy Prophet Muhammad Mustafa (saw) in the person of the Promised Messiah and Imam Mahdi (as); a prophecy which was fulfilled in the person of Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian (as).

Hadhrat Khalifatul said it is not a surprise that the Mullahs (Muslim scholars/leaders) declare Ahmadis as Kuffar because they (the Mullahs themselves) are raising the same edicts of disbelief against each other stressing that the Jama‘at is under the blessings of the institution of Khilafat and through it renders noble services to humanity.

According to Amir Baba F. Trawally, the convention was attended by 31,150 participants drawn from 89 countries worldwide while the British Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Leader of the Labour Party were represented and their goodwill messages were read on their behalf.

Amir Trawally also said the king from the Northern region of Nigeria, representatives of the Governments of Benin, Sierra Leone, Ghana and Uganda, among others, also read goodwill messages from their respective governments.

Amir Trawally said: “His Holiness, Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih V (may Allah Almighty strengthen him) is continuously praying for peace, security, stability, progress and prosperity of our dear homeland and humanity at large.”
