Bringing ICT to the doorstep of all

Oct 10, 2012, 10:08 AM

The importance of the new information communication technologies (ICTs) in the 21st century is becoming more and more recognised, thus the need to bring ICT services to all.

The recent opening of a NICE centre in Tabokoto would, no doubt, increase the accessibility to the internet and other ICT services being offered in the area.

The use of ICT among people in The Gambia, especially the young people, is on the increase but access stills remains a challenge.

Many people who need the services are still left out due to their location and poor connectivity in the remote areas of the country, for instance.

However, we see the recent intervention of NICE Gambia and partners as very essential for meeting the country’s ICT needs.

Without the support of the IT sector, there would be no development because if you are not conversant with the new technologies, you will be left behind.

ICTs have made life easier for millions of people around the world, and we must also take advantage of this great evolution.

The use of ICTs helps people in their daily work and transaction, thus the need to embrace them and make them accessible to all our people.

It is in that regard that we welcome the latest intervention of NICE Gambia and partners in bringing ICT services to the doorsteps of people in this country.
