Father Gough Sports Foundation on Tuesday benefited from football materials from their counterparts, Berkshire Youth League in the United Kingdom.
The donated items which included eleven set of jerseys, football boots, among others, was distributed among various Academy teams at a presentation held at the Father Gough Sports Complex i n Manjai Kunda.
Bai Malleh Wadda, the Co-ordinator of Father Gough Football Academy, said the donated items were provided by teams in Berkshire Youth League in the UK, namely Bracknel, Caraliers, White Grove FC, Maindenhead, Magpies, including individual contributions by a few other Gambians in abroad, such as Malick Jeng, Sol Jagne, Such Sarr, Omar Koroma (O.J) and other individuals.
Speaking to reporters shortly after distributing the donated items to eleven different Academy teams, Bai Malleh Wadda thanked the donors for what he described as their wonderful initiative. He expressed his desire to establish strong links with their counterparts in the United Kingdom.
"We are on the verge of inviting some academy teams from the UK in order to establish strong li´nks with their Gambian counterparts," he told reporters.
The eleven Academy teams that benefited from the donation are Father Gough Academy in Manjai, Kololi Academy in Kololi, Young Survivals Academy in Dippakunda, Armed Forces Academy in Bakau, Jarrinton Academy in Manjai, Balajo Academy in Tallinding, Jihaj Academy in Pipeline, Axi Gaye Academy in Kotu, Madac Academy in Latrikunda, A.C Academy in Bakoteh and Damsalam Academy in Manjai.
