Barely nine days to the 2nd Edition of Baby Muhammed Jammeh's Perpetual Zonal Football championship, the Bakau Zonal Sports Committee, has called up a total of 30 players that are selected to represent Bakau in the eight Zonal Championship.
The team led by Coach Abdoulie Bojang and Kebba Touray took as many as 30 players to their second intensive training session at the Bakau Mini Stadium, in preparation for the championship.
In an exclusive interview with Pointsport at the team's training ground yesterday morning, one of the coaching staff of the defending champions, Kebba Touray, alias Jospha told this reporter that Bakau has the qualities to replicate the form that made them the first zonal team to lift the title since its change of name to Baby Muhammed Jammeh's Perpetual Championship trophy last year.
"As you are all aware that we are the defending champions and the players are well prepared for the competition, we have all it takes to retain the title, considering the calibre of players at our disposal and they are all committed to repeat the same historic performance" the confident Coach noted.
"The only thing we need to improve on" Kebba Touray highlighted is our approach towards our opponents, given the fact that it has caused them a lot and as a result, Bakau were made to make a dramatic comeback to clinch the title away from the neighbours and bitter rivals Banjul last year following a disappointing performance in the group stage," he was quoted as saying.
Bakau have registered the Zonal Championship title for a record of five times and they would make history if they succeed in retaining the trophy for the second successive season. But whether the squad that has been blessed with the presence of former International trio,
