In
observance of the Christian holy month of Lent, a period of fasting, the
Fatoumatta Bah Foundation (FABB) on Monday extended benevolence to The Gambia
Christian Council with the presentation of 200 bags of rice and 100 gallons of
oil.
The
donation ceremony was held at State House in Banjul.
At
the presentation, Fatou Ceesay, CEO and vice chairperson of the Fatoumatta Bah
Foundation, explained that the donation was meant to support Christians in the
country as they have started observing their holy month of fasting commonly
referred to as Lent.
“This
donation is to support our Christians in the country as they are currently
observing their only month of fasting. We want to and always like to give
support to our Christian brothers and sisters where possible,” she said.
She
wished all Christians a happy month of Lent and prayed for God’s continuous
guidance.
Receiving
the items, Rev. Rodney Louis Prom, general secretary, The Gambia Christian
Council, expressed gratitude to the First Lady’s Foundation, noting that words
cannot express how happy they were in receiving such a gesture from the First
Lady through her foundation.
Rev.
Louis Prom on behalf of the Gambia Christian Council prayed for the foundation,
further assuring that the gesture would be evenly distributed amongst
Christians in the country.
