A cock-tail exhibition was held on Wednesday at the Alliance Franco Hall as part of celebrating the painting art exhibition organised by a Nigerian born-Gambian, Yusuf Adebayor, commonly known as Yuspalkala. The cock-tail programme was witnessed by senior government officials from the ministry of Tourism and Culture, National Centre for Arts and Culture, The Nigerian High Commissioner to The Gambia, The French Ambassador to The Gambia and a cross section of the Gambian media.
Speaking shortly after the opening of the cock-tail programme, Yuspalkala, the organiser of the exhibition thank all those who attended the programme, especially the Nigerian High Commissioner and the Frence Ambassador. He also thanked the Gambia government through the ministry of Tourism and Culture for their support. The Nigerian artist went on to thanked Comuim, Banjul Breweries and the Director of Alliance Franco for sponsoring his exhibition and prayed for them for long lives. The exhibition which started from the 8 February to the 27 is to showcase popular African paintings by one of the continents artists, Nigerian-born Yusuf Adebayor, is powered by the Youki drink brand, a product of The Banjul Breweries Limitd. Yuspalkala explained to the invitees during a tour of his paintings said the exhibition theme implies "Tukki Guiss" meaning "Travel and See" will offer the unique opportunity for a better appreciation of African culture. "It is only when someone travels, you see and learn first hand experience our black continents is full of experiences, so as artists, our own is to imagine and point with true depiction of our daily lives." Yuspalkala therefore called on all artists in the country come as one family and work to develop the profession. The programme was entertainment by music on stage, food and drinks was serve to the invitees to the fullest.
