The economic crime case involving former cashier of the Gambia Ports Authority (GPA) Jahou Jammeh could not proceed on Thursday at the Special Criminal Court in
The case, scheduled to continue with a prosecution witness, could not proceed on the grounds that the defence counsel, Kebba Sanyang, was not in court.
However, the state counsel, Salema, was in court together with his witness.
The case was consequently deferred to a later date.
It would be recalled that the accused, Jahou Jammeh, was alleged to have caused the loss of D6 million to the economy of The Gambia while under the employment of the Gambia Ports Authority as a cashier, a charge she had since denied.
