The 2011 Business Awards competition has produced another set of business leaders in the private sector domain of The Gambia. This time around the competition covered start-up businesses, and other industries such as insurance and tourism with special focus on hotels, restaurants and eco-tourism, which has taken the competition a notch higher by making the Business Awards a national, all-encompassing awards programme to honour organisations that demonstrate the core values of business excellence, product excellence, sustainability and commercial success in their respective industries.

The winners are Lasting Solutions, the Enterprise of the Year Award; Gamworks, Partner to the Business Community of the Year Award; New Century Company, Start-up of the Year Award; Banjul Breweries, Manufacturing Company of the Year Award; Africell, Telecommunication Company of the Year Award; Guaranty Trust Bank Gambia Limited, Bank of the Year Award; International Insurance Company, Insurance Company of the Year Award; Kairaba Beach Hotel, Hotel of the Year Award; Butchers Shop, Restaurant of the Year Award; and Sandele, Eco-Tourism Business of the Year Award.
