Witness testifies in rash, negligent case

Assan Touray, a resident of Sinchu Alagie, recently testified against one Kebba Jobe charged with rash and negligent act causing death, before Magistrate Babucarr Secka of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court.

Touray told the court that on 23 July 2010 he boarded a vehicle from Basse to the Kombos together with the defendant, Kebba Jobe, and Pap Jobe and Ousman Bah.

He said upon arrival at Soma, they stopped to take their dinner and after taking their dinner, the deceased, Pap Jobe, asked the defendant, Kebba Jobe, to drive the vehicle.

The prosecution witness further adduced that, while on their way, the vehicle surmarsulted at Batabutu Kantura in the Fonis and the villagers called the Sibanor Police Station.

Touray said the body of the deceased was taken by the police ambulance to Sulayman Junkung Jammeh Hospital in Bwiam and later referred to the RVTH.

He said he later made his statement at the Sibanor Police Station.

At that juncture, the case was adjourned till 24 November 2010.
