Ebola Update

Mr. Momodou Njai, Director of Health Promotion and Education has reassured the public that there is no Ebola case in The Gambia.

He told GRTS that people should not be alarmed; they should only minimise shaking hands and wash hands frequently.

Doctors Without Borders said the world is losing the battle to contain Ebola.

One Liberian patient who had the virus on Tuesday ran away from quarantine, saying Ebola patients have been isolated and they are starving. She was arrested by security officers and returned to quarantine.

Health workers in Sierra Leone have resumed work, after a three-day strike. They said the government met their demand of salary increment, payment of salary arrears, health insurance and equipment to do their work.

Liberia health workers are still on strike, since Monday, because of low pay and a lack of equipment.
