East League cup: Blue Star sails to semis

Blue Star FC have booked their ticket to the semi-finals stage of the Serrekunda East Sports Development Organisation (SESDO) League competition, after beating Milan Rossoneri FC by a goal to nil in the quarter-finals game played at the East park on Wednesday 5th November 2014.

Jerreh Marong alias Rooney scored the only goal of the game for the Wellingara-based outfit in the 20th minute of the game from a superb shot to guarantee his side a place in the league semis.

Milan Rossoneri FC quickly fought back for an equaliser before the end of the first period, but could not break the solid Blue Star FC defence line.

Upon resumption in the second half, Milan Rossoneri FC took control of the game and created numerous goal-scoring opportunities, but failed to capitalise on them.

Dodou Nyan could have leveled the scores for Milan Rossoneri FC in the 80th minute of the encounter, but was denied by goalkeeper Ousainou Jaiteh of Blue Star FC.

Moment’s later Zakaria Darboe alias Ozil had an opportunity to double the lead for Yunusa Badjie of Blue Star FC, but he shot wide, thus the game ended 1-nil in favour of Blue Star FC, therefore, ensuring they qualify for the semi-finals of the league trophy.

Blue Star FC is the only team this year in Serrekunda East to qualify for the semi-finals of both trophies.
