Mustapha Jallow told the court he is a businessman, and he knew the accused person, who is standing trial for the offence of obtaining money by false pretence, because the accused told him about it.
Testifying, DW2 said: “All I know is that the accused introduced me to the complainant as a friend, who is one Babucarr Keita, and the accused told me that he shared the same cell with the complainant in Ziganchor in Cassamance, but the complainant told me that he was very happy with the accused in Ziganchor.”
He said one day the complainant and one of his friends went to visit the accused, but the complainant and the accused were communicating in Mandinka.
Later the complainant took out 300,000 CFA, and he the witness asked the accused how much was the equivalent if converted into dalasi, he said.
He said the accused called one of his friends and was speaking with that friend in Creole language, which the complainant could not speak, and after a while the complainant and his friend drove home, and the Creole man also left.
