William
and Korea, a couple from Holland, recently donated school materials to Fadera
Kunda Nursery School in Farato village.
The
items were books, pencils, pens, clothes and toys for the children meant to
motivate them in pursuance of their education.
Speaking
at the presentation ceremony, the CEO and founder of the school, Fabakary
Fadera, thanked the couple, Korea and William, for their gesture towards the
children of the school.
He
said the materials would go a long way in supporting the children in school
because it would help them in their learning, and “looking at the age of the
children they are seriously in need of such materials for learning”.
According
to him, the school also needs more assistance because “the size of the
classroom is too small for the children” hence they need a bigger space to
accommodate all of them.
He
appealed to the Dutch couple for them to continue their support to the school
as well as thanked them for the invaluable gesture.
The
school head teacher, Ousman Gibba, in his remarks on the occasion, said the
school was founded in 2010, with 31 students - 20 girls and 11 boys.
He
said the school “now has an enrolment of 71 students” of nursery classes 1 and
2 and they are expecting to soon have nursery 3 pupils as the school grows.
Ebrima
Camara, a native of Farato village, also thanked the donors for the gesture,
saying the school provides great help to not only the school children but also
the entire village of Farato.
“Some
of these school children come from very poor families, and providing these
materials would ease the burden on their parents,” he said.
He
also thanked the CEO of the School Mr Fadera for his foresight and commitment
towards the school.
