One Lamin S.B. Touray was Monday arraigned before Magistrate Jeng of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court, charged with rash and negligent driving, causing death.
The particulars of offence stated that on 9 May 2013, around Abuko Nature Reserve, the defendant, Lamin S.B. Touray, drove a motor vehicle with registration number BJL 2081J, in a rash and negligent manner, thereby causing the death of one Buba Jawla, a 7-year-old boy.
He admitted to the charge and was granted court bail of D20,000 with two Gambian sureties who must deposit an ID card and swear to an affidavit of means.
The case was then adjourned for judgement.
Meanwhile, in a related development, one Katim Jeng was also arraigned at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court, charged with rash and negligent driving, causing death.
The charge sheet read in court stated that the defendant, Katim Jeng, on 8 May 2013, at Farato village, Kombo South, West Coast Region, drove a motor vehicle with registration number BJL 6117 E, in a rash and negligent manner, thereby caused the death of one Fusainey Jallow.
He denied the charge and was granted court bail of D25,000 with two Gambian sureties who must swear to an affidavit of means and deposit their ID cards.
Hearing was adjourned till 8 June 2013.
