Dr Aboubacar Senghore is new Foreign Affairs Minister

President Yahya Jammeh has appointed Dr Aboubacar A. Senghore as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs, the presidency announced on Friday.

Dr Senghore was, up to the time of his appointment to cabinet, Dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of The Gambia, where he worked as a senior lecturer in Law, Governance and International Politics.

He replaced Susan Waffa-Ogoo, who was relieved of her cabinet appointment last Wednesday.

A PhD holder in International Human Rights Law, Dr Senghore, formerly served as Head (Dean) of Faculty of Social Sciences at the UTG.

Born in 1968, he is also an associate lecturer at the Management Development Institute. Formerly, worked as a Legal and Research Officer and Head of the Legal and Research Department of the African Centre for Democracy and Human Rights Studies in Banjul, from August 1999 - December 2002

A native of Fass Njaga Choi in the North Bank Region, Dr Senghore also served as a former lecturer in Comparative Law, just for about one year, at the department of Islamic Law, Faculty of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences of the International Islamic University, Malaysia.
