The alleged defilement case involving one Demba Sowe, a resident of Farafenni Town, in the Upper Baddibou District of the North Bank Region, was recently adjourned at the Special Criminal Court in Banjul before Justice Emmanuel Nkea.

It was adjourned on the grounds that the prosecution’s witness was not in court.

When the case was called in court, state counsel A.M. Yusuf announced his representation for the state, while the defence counsel, E. Jah, announced his representation for the accused.

The state counsel then informed the court that he had just communicated with his witness and the witness had promised to come but he could not see the witness.

He then applied for an adjournment to enable him to secure the appearance of his witness, to which the defence counsel raised no objection. The case was then adjourned till later date.

It would be recalled that the accused person was being tried for allegedly deflowering an underage girl of 12 years in Farafenni Town, Upper Baddibou District of the North Bank Region.
