One Sulayman Barry who is alleged of stealing cashew-nut recently opened his defence before Magistrate Fred Foster of the Brikama Magistrates' Court.
In his testimony, the accused Sulayman Barry told the court that on the 3rd June 2009, he went to Brikama Dirimekolong to drink palm wine. He said on his way home after the drink, he became tired and decided to lie down by the fence at the Co-operative camp. He said one Modou Krubally found him and asked him why was he lying there, adding that the said Modou Krubally took the bags of the cashew-nuts and put them on top of him.
He testified that he was later arrested and taken to Brikama Police Station were he was asked to stand near the bags and a photograph was taken of him.
The case was adjourned to 8th August 2009.
