Defence opens in alleged theft case

DW1, Ismaila Jobe, who is alleged of stealing two welding machines, recently testified in his own defence at the Bundung Magistrates' Court.

The accused, Ismaila Jobe is standing trial for allegedly stealing two welding machines, valued at D100, 000 in Fajara, being the property of one Ansumana Sankara.

Testifying before Magistrate Lamin George, the accused, Ismaila Jobe told the court that he lives in Ebow Town and he is a welder man.

He told the court that he wanted to open a workshop and the complainant told him that he had a pumping machine, together with a generator for sale.

Further testifying, the accused, Ismaila Jobe told the court that, he then gave the machines to one of his friends who resides in Fajikunda for safe-keeping, but was later told that his friend had traveled to Senegal, and that he did not know when he was supposed to come back.

The case was then adjourned to 8th July 2010 for continuation.
