Accused testifies in defence

One Ebrima Kanteh, who is charged along side with Salifu Gaye for attempting to commit felony, recently testified before Magistrate Drammeh of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court.

Testifying before the court, the 1st accused, Ebrima Kanteh told the court that he is a businessman, and that he resides in Ebo-Town.

He testified that on the day in question, he was on a business trip with his co-accused at a market near a shop, opposite Gambia Technical Training Institute (GTTI).

According to him, he was concentrating on a customer while his co-accused entered into a shop to look for another client.

Further testifying he stated that it was when he heard people shouting at them, accusing the 2nd defendant of stealing.

He asserted that he later went to the scene to find out what was the matter and he was told that the 2nd accused wanted to steal from the shop’s drawer.

He revealed that when they saw him with a perfume he was selling, they accused both of them of stealing.

The case was then adjourned to 5th July 2010.
