The Nornalisation Committee of the Gambia Football Federation on Saturday 20th September 2014 rejected the withdrawal of Omar Danso from the GFF presidential election.

When the names of the three candidates for the election were announced, and asked to come forward, prior to the voting process, Danso rose and announced that he has submitted his withdrawal to the GFF Secretary General that morning.

However, NC-GFF legal adviser Legenju Vitalis told Danso that Saturday was not a working day for the GFF, and that his withdrawal was late.

When votes for the three GFF presidential candidates were announced, Danso secured no vote. Lamin Kaba Bajo and Buba Mbye Bojang bagged 28 and 23 votes respectively.

Speaking to reporters shortly after the election process, Omar Danso said he and Bojang formed an alliance. This was why he withdrew, and left Buba Mbye Bojang to contest against Lamin Kaba Bajo, he added.

Danso said he will work with the newly-elected GFF executive, and is ready to share his experience with the new GFF executive.
