Hanne and Tom Moses Petersen, a Danish couple, on Wednesday donated computers to Apple Tree Nursery School in Kololi.
The computers were presented to the principal of Apple Tree International Nursery, Junior and High Schools in The Gambia, Owosu, by Musa Colley, the couple’s Gambian friend residing at Latri-kunda Sabiji, at a sizeable ceremony held at the school premises.
Speaking briefly at the ceremony, Mr Colley said the computers were donated to the nursery by his Danish couple following their visit to the school earlier this year.
He urged the school administration to make the best use of the computers so they can serve them longer and better.
“Because of the interest and learning situation the couple saw at the nursery that is why after their return to Denmark, they decided to donate these computers to your school and I think they will complement your efforts in your daily school work,” Mr Colley said.
For his part, Mr Owosu thanked the couple through Mr Colley for their timely donation to one of his institutions.
He described the donation as laudable, adding that it is fully appreciated by the entire administration of the three schools.
“This has really demonstrated their loyalty to the nursery school and it came at a time when we are putting emphasis on ICT programme in our school curriculums,” Principal Owosu said.
He promised the couple that through their Gambian friend Musa Colley, the computers donated to Apple Tree International Nursery School would be used for its rightful purpose.
To them the computers are no small thing but a worthy donation which will help them so much, he said.
