D. Light, manufacturer of solar powered lamps, is named the 2010 Gold Award winner (40,000 pounds) of the prestigious Ashden Awards for Sustainable Energy (London, UK), says a press release from Silicon Valley Partners.
According to the release, the judges selected D. Light for: Its passion and dedication to the cause of ridding the developing world of health and pollution problems through the design, manufacture and promotion of durable and affordable solar lanterns across the developing world.

The Ashden Awards for Sustainable Energy were founded in 2007, to encourage the greater use of local sustainable energy to address climate change and alleviate poverty.
