D-Day for GFA Press Conference

Today is the date set aside by the Gambia Football Association (GFA) for the much publicised press conference intended to explain the circumstances that led to The Gambia’s senior Scorpions’ shocking 1-nil defeat at Windhoek, Namibia, on 3 September.

The team’s defeat at the hands of Namibia has seriously damaged its chances of qualifying to next year’s AFCON event due to take place in Gabon/Equatorial Guinea.

According to the press release signed by GFA media officer Bakary Bunja Baldeh, today’s press gathering will avail Scorpions delegation to Windhoek and head coach Paul Put the unique opportunity to explain the problems that hampered the Scorpions’ performance in Namibia.

Read the full text of the press release sent to Pointsport recently: After the Scorpions one-nil defeat to the Brave Warriors of Namibia on Saturday 3 September 2011 in Windhoek, the GFA will hold a press conference today at the GFA Secretariat in Kanifing at 1:00pm.

The press conference will avail the Scorpions delegation and head coach Paul Put the opportunity to explain the problems that bedeviled their performance in Namibia leading to the Gambia’s hope of qualifying to AFCON shattered.

You are invited to attend the press conference as a major stakeholder in football development.

A total of 19 media houses are invited to attend today’s truth and remedy press conference.
