Central River Region Youth and Sports Association and the local organizing committee for May Day mass sports celebrations have decided to include Chess in their activities for the celebration of the day slated for Saturday 23 May 2015 at the Regional town of Janjanbureh.
This development came after the Gambia Chess Federation under the leadership of President Alh. Antouman Njie assigned the 1st and 2nd vice presidents, Amadou Jallow and Sasuna Mbaye, to form regional chess associations in all the regions, which was successfully done to decentralize the game across the country.
Meanwhile, to have a successful competition the local organizing committee requested for technical support from the Gambia Chess Federation to help coordinate and organise the event.
In respect of the request the Gambia Chess Federation will send to the region a five-man team headed by 1st vice president Amadou Jallow.
They are expected to leave for Janjanbureh on Friday 22 and return on Sunday 24 May 2015.
The Gambia Chess Federation thanks all relevant stakeholders for the support rendered to the federation during the process.
