About twenty Physical Education teachers are currently participating in an intensive coaching course on the basic techniques of Cricket, in Farrafenni.
The training is part of efforts by the Gambia Cricket Association to not only decentralise the game, but to promote school clubs that can compete in a national league designed for schools.
The two-day course is instructed by Johnny Gomez, the President of the Gambia Cricket Association with National U-13 Coach Wilfred Riley and other local coaches, such as Prince Johnson and Mbye Dumbuya.
A total number of hundred school children from the region were also introduced on the basic techniques of bowling, batting and scoring runs.
The training will next month be extended to Soma, in the Lower River Region.
