Court orders dna test for accused

A magistrate court in Bundung recently ordered a DNA test for the accused in order to determine his actual age, when he (Mustapha Njie) informed the court that he is 17-years-old.

The accused, Mustapha Njie was arraigned before Magistrate Lamin George for housebreaking and stealing, a charge he admitted.

Count one stated that on 18th March 2010, at Kololi, the accused broke into the house of one Yaya Sawaneh with intent to a commit felony to wit stealing.

Count two revealed that on 18th March 2010, at Kololi, the accused stole from the house of Yaya Sawaneh items worth D63, 500.

According to the facts of the case as narrated by CPL Ceesay, it happened on 18th March 2010, at Kololi when one Modou Marong heard a noise in the compound of the said Yaya Sawaneh when he sent his children to find out, who reported that they had seen the accused with two bags containing the stolen items.

Subsequently, he was arrested and taken to Kotu Police Station.
