Court hears case of accessories after the fact

The Brikama Magistrates’ Court on Monday heard a case of accessories after the fact involving Demba Camara, Saifo Sanneh, Musa Camara and Alagie Camara.

The case proceeded with the testimony of a prosecution witness, one Nankey Mendy, who told the court that he resides at Brusubi Layout and he is a mechanic and a shopkeeper.

He said he recognized the accused persons and on 18 January 2012, he was sleeping when he heard the second, third and fourth accused persons talking to his wife.

“I came and met them at the door. They told me that they had cigarettes for sale,” he added.

He said he then asked them where they got the cigarettes from and they said it was given to them by one Lamin, who is now a convict.

He added that he left them there and few minutes later, the first accused came back to him at his shop, selling cigarettes, adding that he bought six gross of cigarettes from him, such as 3 gross of Monte Carlo, 1gross of Piccadilly and 2gross of Bond.

The case continues on 12 March 2012.
