The Kanifing Magistrates' Court presided over by Acting Principal Magistrate Sainabou Wadda-Ceesay on Monday 9th February 2009 entered a  judgement in favour of Mr Mannu A. Gidwanic and Mr Raj Shrichandani against Slok Air International.

The plaintiff dragged Slok Air to the Kanifing Magistrates' Court, claiming D42, 300 being the unpaid balance of money owed to the plaintiffs by the defendants in respect of stationery supplied by the plaintiffs to the said defendants. The plaintiffs, who were represented by Lawyer Badou Conteh, also claimed the sum of D15, 000 being general damages for breach of contract and cost in the sum of D10, 000 with interest.

The plaintiffs further claimed that on several occasions in the year 2007 and 2008, they supplied the defendant D53, 950 worth of stationery and equipment and raised various invoices.

The plaintiffs stated in their claim that the defendant has paid D11, 650 to them out of the said sum of D53, 950 leaving an outstanding balance of D42, 300.

According to their claim, in spite of repeated demands by the plaintiffs, the defendant has failed, refused or neglected to pay the said balance. The plaintiffs went on to claim that on 26th June 2008, they also caused their solicitor, Badou Conteh to write a demand letter to the defendant concerning the debt but the defendant did not bother to acknowledge the letter and as a result, they suffered loss and damage. Magistrate Sainabou Wadda-Ceesay at length  entered judgement in favour of the plaintiffs in the sum of D42, 300 and a cost of D2000 plus  4% interest from the date of judgement.
