The board of controllers and members of The Gambia Cricket Association regret to announce the demise of their vice president, James Alieu George.
The veteran cricketer, who was also a magistrate in the Gambia judiciary system, passed away on Friday 20 May 2011.
He was laid to rest at the Brusubi Cemetery on the same.
Late James Alieu was one among a few Gambian veteran cricketers who have dedicated their lives to promoting the game in the country after witnessing and participating during its hay days as cricketers in The Gambia.
Cricket was one of the most popular games in the country in the 50s but the game has over the years witnessed a decline in number of players as football continues to reign over all sports nowadays.
