The
Secretary General of the Commonwealth Karmalesh Sharma arrived in the Gambia Sunday
evening at the start of a two-day working visit.The
top Commonwealth official, who was greeted at Banjul
International Airport
by top government officials, Monday met with the Vice President and Minister of
Women’s Affairs, Isatou Njie Saidy, at State House in Banjul.
Discussions
between the Vice President and the Commonwealth Secretary General, according to
media reports, centered on means of deepening The Gambia’s engagement with the
Commonwealth, especially in institutional strengthening.
