Chief Justice Assures Litigants

The Chief Justice of The Gambia, Abdou Kareem Savage, has stated that in the event that litigants who are unsatisfied with the decision of the Court of Appeal could hope for judgement in their cases within three months at the Supreme Court.

The Chief Justice gave this assurance on Monday during the Supreme Court's quarterly session. He said it is their intention to be conducting Supreme Court sessions every three months. He appealed to members of the bar to help make the promise a reality by filing their briefs on time.

For her part the president of the Gambia Bar Association, Lawyer Amie Bensouda, welcomed the foreign Judges to The Gambia. She also thanked the Chief Justice for what she considered the good work he has been doing to get the Supreme Court to have sessions every three months.

She appealed for the court of appeal to be making the record of proceedings available on time, while assuring the CJ of the Bar's fullest corporation.

The Attorney General and Secretary of State for Justice, Marie Saine-Fridaus, also assured the Chief Justice of her department's fullest support.
