Concern for Gambia Children (CFGC), a registered charitable organisation operating in The Gambia and Denmark, last week Friday donated valuable materials to Little Tree Training Centre in Bakoteh and Gambia Scout Association.
The donated items, which included sewing machines, educational materials, clothes and school bags, were presented at a brief ceremony held at Little Tree in Bakoteh, facilitated by the Youths Alliance for Educational and Development.
According to Mr. Saidykhan, the Chairperson of the Youths Alliance for Education and Development, it is not the first time CFGC has donated to the two institutions.
He disclosed that CFGC has sent 40ft container of materials to his alliance, meant to support Gambian children in the pursuit of their education.
“My alliance was tasked to identify beneficiaries for possible assistance which we did by identifying schools and institutions that are in dire need of help,” he added.
He used the occasion to thank the charity for the gesture, as according to him, the materials are expensive.
Madam Christine, the Chairperson of a handicap association in Denmark said: “This donation came from good people in my city in Denmark to help Gambian children. We have more of this type back home, but due to some problem of shipping, we could not bring all the materials.”
Pa Omar Bojang, Chief Scout Commissioner, who also doubles as the Country Coordinator of Concern for Gambia Children in Banjul, expressed delight at the gesture, noting that it would go a long way towards helping the Gambians in various ways.
“Today’s presentation manifests commitment of Christine. She is little and handicap physically, but in heart, brain and mind she is not handicapped, because of what she can do for Gambian children. Back home in Denmark she does everything possible to help Gambian children,” he said.
Deputy Chief Scout Commissioner, Babucarr Khan, who received the donated items, on behalf of the Gambia Scout Association, hailed the donors for the gesture.
Meanwhile, the charity also donated another set of educational materials, including books, school bags, pens and pencils to Taboto Islamic School in Foni.
Cherno Gibba, the Principal of the school, expressed appreciation for the donation, describing Concern for Gambia Children as true partners.
