Senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbacke of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court recently convicted, Ebrima Ndow and Katim Ceesay on charges of committing felony and stealing.
They were sentenced on a charge of felony to a mandatory term of nine months in prison, while on a charge of stealing they were sentenced to a mandatory term of eight months in prison with hard labour.
The court also ordered the convicts to return to the complainant the sum of D36, 750, in default to serve another nine months in prison.
Both sentences are to run concurrently.
According to the particulars of offence on count one, the convicts on 9th June 2008, at Gacem Company, in the Kanifing Municipality conspired to commit a felony to wit stealing.
Count two stated that on 9th June 2008, at Gacem Company, in the Kanifing Municipality stole 150 bags of cement, valued at D36, 750, being the property of one Oumie Maraneh.
