Cattle rustler convicted

One Alagie Conteh was Thursday convicted and sentenced to a fine of D5,000 in default to serve six months in prison by the Brikama Magistrates’ Court, presided over by Magistrate Jagne.

The particulars of offence read that the accused, Alagie Conteh, on 29 July 2013, at Brikama Gidda, West Coast Region, stole one she-goat valued at D2,500, being the property of one Sutay Fofana.

According to the facts narrated before the court, on 29 July 2013, the accused stole one she-goat from the compound of one Sutay Fofana and took it to Serrekunda Market to sell it.

At the market, he was confronted by KMC police officers and asked whether he had a document for the goat, and he responded in the negative.

He was then taken to the Serrekund Police Station for further investigation where the accused confessed he stole the said goat from Brikama Gidda.

He was later escorted to the Brikama Police Station as the proper jurisdiction, where the complainant identified the goat as his.
