Senegalese outfit Cassa Sport on Tuesday defeated the 2011-2012 Gambia Football Association (GFA) division one league champions Real De Banjul 2-0 in an international friendly game played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
The friendly was part of Real De Banjul’s preparations for the continent’s top-tier club football competition - the 2013 CAF African Champions league against Moroccan side FUS Rabat in the first leg in February 2013 in
Both sides made a spectacular start to the game and launched occasional goal-scoring opportunities in front of each other’s goal mouth but it was the visitors who were able to capitalize on their opportunities and opened the score through Muhammed Njie in the 8th minute of the game to give his side the lead.
Muhammed Njie could have rejuvenated Cassa Sport’s lead from the penalty spot in the 41st minute of the game but the penalty was denied by Real De Banjul custodian Assan Jallow. Cassa Sport then went to break with a one-nil lead.
Striker Pap Sanneh sealed the victory for Cassa Sport in the 69th minute of the game and Real De Banjul finished the game with ten men when captain and defender Baboucarr Savage was sent off for unsporting behaviour.
