The case of threatening violence, willful damage to property and criminal trespass involving one Abdou Joof, continued recently at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court.
Testifying, the first prosecution witness (PW1), Ciavash Mehrni, told the court that he is a businessman and lives in Fajara.
After identifying the accused as someone he knew, PWI Mehrni told the court that on 17 December 2011, at around 3a.m, he was sleeping when he heard a noise and woke up only to see someone trying to break his door.
He said the accused was using threatening words while standing with some people he could not recognise.
According to him, one of his business partners, Remigjus Araminas, who lives in the neighbouring house, came out and called the landlord and explained to him.
The landlord came with some police officers, but found that the accused person had already left, he said.
He adduced that his business partner was videoing the scene with his mobile phone, which was downloaded in a laptop and the police officers took photos of the damaged door.
Hearing was adjourned until 14 February 2012.
