Cannabis sativa case reaches court

One Lamin Ceesay, a resident of Brufut village, in the Kombo North District of the West Coast Region, was recently arraigned at the Banjul Magistrates’ Court, charged with being in possession of prohibited drug.

According to the particulars of offence, on 28 December 2011, at Brufut Village, in the Kombo North District of the West Coast Region, the accused, Lamin Ceesay, was alleged to have been found with 34 kilograms of suspected cannabis sativa.

He denied the charge and was subsequently granted court bail of D100,000, with a Gambian surety with a landed property within the Greater Banjul Area.

The case continues.
